CARVER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROJECT
Literacy Training - If you did not sign up to help youngsters with reading skills, it is not too late. The staff will do individual training. Hours to work with the children are Monday through Friday from 12:05 to 1:35 and/or 2:05 to 3:35 p.m. You do not have to commit to every day - you set your own schedule. First step: Register at the school during regular hours, have a valid drivers license and pass a routine criminal background check. If you have questions contact Annette Kirk (email@example.com) or Mike Smithson (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Backpack Buddy Program - What if?? What if you could only find a part time job paying less than minimum wage? No insurance? What if your child went to school on an empty stomach because you couldn't afford cereal and you knew they would get a morning meal there as well as lunch. Supper might be pretty meager but at least they had two nourishing meals a day. Then comes Saturday. And Sunday. No school breakfast or lunch. What if your child came home with packages of mac & cheese, small cans of soup, crackers and other items to help through the weekend. Would you feel God's love? Jesus said love your neighbor, feed my sheep. What if we did?? Items should be non-perishable and light enough for a child's backpack. Suggestions are on the flier on the bulletin boards and the bin for contributions is in the copy room.
Pennies for Hunger!
The last Sunday of each month. And bring non-perishables to help stock the food pantry too.
PASTOR'S Discretionary Fund
Due to cuts, our budget no longer contains this line item, but the needs are still there. Contributions are welcome to help address known needs with limited funds. Mark contributions Pastor's Discretionary Fund and drop in the offering plate or by the church office.
